As Catholics, we are heirs to a remarkable heritage. The history of our Faith is so much more than a list of facts and dates. It is a fascinating story of adventure, rebellion, tragedy, and triumph. A story 2,000 years in the making, one word best describes Catholic history: Epic. Epic: A Journey through Church History is a captivating and fast-paced look at the story of the Catholic Church. Beginning with the lives of the apostles all the way up to the present day, Epic takes the immense history of the Church and simplifies it into twelve, color-coded time periods. In the course of twenty completely online sessions, participants learn about the major people, places, and events that comprise the captivating story of Christianity from Steve Weidenkopf, history professor at Christendom College, and Dr. Alan Schreck, theology professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville. This study provides participants with an understanding of Church history that enables them to have a greater sense of meaning and identity as Catholics. Non-Catholics are welcome to participate in this course too!
The fee for this course includes online access to all twenty weeks of video lessons, an accompanying workbook delivered to your mailbox, and a weekly opportunity to discuss lessons and ask questions through a 30 – 60 minute, online meeting through the Zoom app with Trenton Mattingly, the director of Nazareth Retreat Center, who carries an M.A. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame.
Video lessons can be viewed at any time and participants will have access to them for a full year. Weekly Skype sessions will occur each Thursday evenings from 7:00 P.M – 8:00 P.M from 16 April 2020 to 13 August 2020.
