Some of the oldest Christian pilgrimage sites are to images of the Black Madonna, dark and mysterious images of Mary and Jesus that invite us into deep contemplation. This retreat, through presentation, prayer, and contemplative gazing at images of the Black Madonna, will invite us to experience the power of these images. They call us to discover the holy in unconventional places, to embrace the darkness in ourselves, and to reimagine our relationship to Earth in this time of ecological peril.
