Winter Solstice/Advent Retreat Day

December 3, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

$25.00

The holiday season can be stressful as well as beautiful.  In this day retreat the anticipation of Hope and Light through reflections on the Winters Solstice, the Advent Season, and Taizé prayer will move us toward mother nature’s rhythm for our lives. Join S. Joetta Venneman, Carolyn Cromer, Lisa Downs and Amy Pascucci as we reflect on how stillness, light, compassion, and earth’s natural rhythm renews and refreshes as nothing else can in the weight of these times.

Presenters:

Joetta Venneman, PBVM, works in the Office of Social and Environmental Justice with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. She is a former middle school educator and grew up on a dairy farm in rural Iowa. She enjoys hiking, camping, and anything outdoors.

Carolyn Cromer is Director of Ecological Sustainability for the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.  Master’s degrees in ecology and forestry led her to manage nature preserves in Kentucky and California, as well as working on programs to improve water quality in Oldham County streams.  As former executive director of Blackacre Conservancy at Blackacre State Nature Preserve, she led an environmental education program for k-12 students and developed nature- and art-based programming.  Carolyn lives in Louisville with her husband and two boys and enjoys planting trees in her spare time.

Lisa Downs holds a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University New Orleans, is a certified Spiritual Director, and a Boundless Compassion Facilitator.   She has served in various roles the past eighteen years as Director of Faith Formation, Pastoral Associate, Pastoral Administrator, Spiritual Director, assistant teacher for Spiritual Director’s Internship, and is currently the Director of the Nazareth Retreat Center.  She lives in Bardstown with her husband of 39 years, they have three sons, two daughters-in-laws and three granddaughters.

Amy Hettinger Pascucci is a musician, educator and homeschooling mom of two who currently serves as the Choir Director for the St. Vincent Choir at Nazareth.  She has worked in various capacities as a musician and deeply appreciates her current work with the SCN community.  When not making music, she can often be found enjoying every season – especially fall and winter – with her family in the forests of Kentucky.
